Kathy and her husband, Eric, at the beginning of Lake Placid, 2002.

Kathy Roche-Wallace started competing in triathlons after her fifth child was born, with the ultimate goal of competing an Ironman® distance event. Since then, she's been to Hawaii four times and has been a top age-group winner. In addition to other similar distance triathlon wins, Kathy has competed in duathlons, mountain bike races, adventure races and ultra-distance running events.

Now, her focus is on the "ultra" triathlon and was the first U.S. woman to complete the grueling triple "Iron Distance" triathlon in regulation time (2003 - 2005) on American soil.

The 10 x 10 Ultra Iron Distance Triathlon format was her own creation and will be the first ever attempt at an event of its type.

Kathy with her youngest (Cameron) and oldest (Melissa) after completing Lake Placid (2002), still smiling!
